PRECARN awards funding to Solana Networks for work on Intelligent Security Monitoring

Jul 1, 2010

Solana Networks and Carleton University are collaborating to develop an intelligent network security monitoring system. The system will utilize anomaly detection techniques on Netflow data to detect cyber security threats. The project is partially funded by Precarn Incorporated and the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE). Other partners on this project include CHEO (Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario) and McGill University.

Carleton University Professor Ioannis Lambadaris and his students will utilize their strong expertise in the area of network communications and theory to study, analyze and evaluate different algorithms for detecting anomalous behaviour within large volumes of data. Solana Networks will integrate the intelligent network security monitoring system as an adjunct to its current SmartHawk network monitoring product.
