Solana Networks Develops Mobile Ad Hoc Wireless (MANET) Networks Algorithms for Department of National Defence

Ottawa, ON –
Dec 11, 2018

Solana Networks is pleased to commence work on a Defence Canada contract developing advanced algorithms for Mobile Ad Hoc Wireless Networks (MANET).  Working with its partner Akimbo Technologies, Solana will develop an integrated solution which provides geolocation services for MANET nodes in areas where GPS does not work.

Development of an accurate location estimation solution for no-GPS areas is a challenging problem to be resolved. The project objective is to develop and demonstrate a proof of concept (POC) for a RPNS system integrating the following technologies: advanced mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), GPS, MEMS inertial measurement units (IMU), altitude sensor and LIDAR technology.

During the project, Solana will be responsible for the network-based geolocation algorithms and analytics for MANET. The algorithms will be initially developed and tested in simulation before being ported to run Beaglebone wireless boards running an OLSR-based MANET network.

Solana Networks strong expertise in routing, network protocols and traffic analytics will be utilized to ensure successful completion, deliver and support of the project, working with its partner Akimbo Technologies.
